Arthur Griffin photographed Ted Williams in 1939, right before he became Rookie of the year.  Williams eagerly posed for Griffin. The resulting photos, the first color images taken of William’s, create a unique collection.

By the time color photography became widely used, Williams had not time to pose for new photographers. Fifty years later, this undeveloped film of Williams was discovered and the images are now a part of the legacies of photographic- and baseball- history.
