Celebrating the Art of Photography...
Welcome to the Griffin Museum of Photography, a nonprofit organization dedicated solely
to the art of photography. Through our many exhibitions, programs and lectures, we strive
to encourage a broader understanding and appreciation of the visual, emotional and social
impact of photographic art.
At the Griffin Museum, you will find exhibitions from well-known photographers to those
emerging on the scene that explore important themes and thought-provoking ideas. All of
our exhibitions and programs are designed to encourage the passionate exploration of the
art of photography.

Italian Wine Discovery Series
If you love Italian wines, would like to learn more about them, but don't know where to begin, the Italian Wine Discovery Series at the Griffin Museum of Photography can help. The Italian Wine Discovery Series will explore wines from five of the best regions of Italy. Each two-hour session will combine an overview of each region's geography, climate, and grape varieties with an opportunity to taste six of its best wines. A sampling of foods that complement each wine will be offered, and well as copies of tasting notes and presentation materials.
Your guide through the world of Italian wine will be Jack Korpi, wine buyer for Berman's Wine and Spirits in Lexington. Jack has over 15 years of experience seeking out wines with personality that reflect the character of the land that created them.
This series starts January 5-2012 and continues over 5 Thursday evenings until March 1, 2012. The cost of each evening is $45 per person, 50% of which is a tax-deductible contribution to the Griffin Museum of Photography. You may attend any or all evenings. There is a 10% discount on subscriptions to all five.

Critical Conversations with Keith Johnson
Saturday, February 11, 10 AM - NOON
Artists often create in isolated environments yet yearn for feedback on new
work. In art school, critiques are frequent and important parts of growth,
but what happens after art school? Our critical conversations are safe, yet
honest and constructive opportunities to share work-in-progress with other
photographers. Keith Johnson is an educator, photographer, and consultant.

Members FREE. Nonmembers, $10. Space is limited. RSVP by Feb. 4.

In this class we explore the relationships between word and image across a broad range of artistic expression including photographs, two and three dimensional art, poetry, prose, mixed media and multi-media. We begin by considering contemporary word and image art across genres with a series of slide presentations. Through in-class exercises where we experiment and play with a variety of materials and assignments completed outside of class, you will create your own word-image associations and broaden your creative expression exploring the range of artistic approaches. The class culminates in a presentation of projects created individually or in collaboration.
